MARTYR’s DAY/ SHAHEED DIWAS

Martyr’s Day, also known as Shaheed Diwas, is observed in India on 30 January annually. The day is dedicated to pay homage to the courageous soldiers who sacrificed their lives for their motherland. It also marks the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi in 1948 who was an epitome of Non Violence and Brotherhood. In a special assembly conducted today, Ms. Ruchika Gupta of Englush department enlightened the students about the significance of the day and the role of  non violence to promote peace, harmony and unity worldwide. She also made the children aware of the vision of Gandhiji who not only dedicated his life to India's struggle for freedom but also led nationwide campaigns against untouchability and poverty. She motivated the students to tread on the path of Gandhiji and build a new India, a better India.

Silence was also observed at 11:00 am as a mark of honour and recognition to the sacrifices of the martyrs who laid down their lives for the nation.
