Report on Adolescent Development and Peer Pressure Awareness Session
An informative and engaging awareness session on Adolescent Development and Peer Pressure was conducted by Dr Pallavi in the Activity Hall for students of Classes IX and X, including both boys and girls.
The session focused on the physical, psychological, emotional and social changes experienced during adolescence. Dr Pallavi explained the changes that occur in boys as well as girls during puberty and the role of hormones in this process. She also discussed body image and the growing self-consciousness among teenagers regarding their looks, appearance and physical strength.
She emphasised the importance of emotional regulation, encouraging students to pause before reacting, remain calm and think carefully before speaking or making decisions. Dr Pallavi stressed that physical strength should never be used to intimidate others and encouraged students to adopt certain practical strategies like to say “No” confidently, maintaining eye contact, and standing up for oneself without aggression. The importance of choosing friends wisely and surrounding oneself with peers who respect individual choices was also emphasised.
The session proved to be a valuable learning experience for the students.
